The Project: Publication

The end result of the post-excavation process for the Yarnton project will be the publication by Oxford Archaeology of three period based monographs (Volume 1: Saxon and medieval, Volume 2: Iron Age and Roman, Volume 3: Neolithic and Bronze Age).

All three monographs will contain:

  • Synthetic chapters - including introduction, landscape, society, food production and consumption, artefacts and crafts and the wider context.
  • Site descriptions - detailed discussion of the archaeological features found, their phasing, associated finds and relationships with surrounding features.

  • Specialist finds reports
  • Methodologies
  • Technical appendices

Digital records will be deposited with the Archaeology Data Service and will be available to the public online. This archive will include the primary context, finds and environmental databases as well as the digital drawings which will allow users to analyse the raw data. In addition, the text from the printed volume and secondary site records such as photographs will also be available.
